Man Behind East New York Sexual Assault Spree Gets 50 Years, DA Says
Keith Wiggins, 31, assaulted or tried to assault three women at gunpoint in a matter of hours in 2017, according to prosecutors.
EAST NEW YORK, BROOKLYN — A man who went on a sexual assault spree in East New York in 2017 will spend 50 years in prison for the violent attacks, according to prosecutors.
Keith Wiggins, 31, was sentenced Monday to 50 years to life in prison, nearly five years after he attacked three women at gunpoint in a matter of hours on the streets of Brooklyn, according to prosecutors.
Wiggins, who is from Queens, had been convicted by a jury in March in the three attacks.

“This was a violent and disturbing series of attacks that targeted and traumatized three innocent women," District Attorney Eric Gonzalez said. "...Our communities are safer now that he has been taken off the street."
The 2017 sexual assault spree started around 6:45 a.m. on October 10 when Wiggins came up to a 29-year-old woman walking to work on Fountain Avenue and ordered her into a lot behind a van at gunpoint, prosecutors said.

Wiggins raped the woman and forced her to perform a sex act, all while pointing a gun at her head, prosecutors said. He fled in a Dodge Caravan.
Just a half hour later, Wiggins flashed his gun to a 15-year-old girl walking to school on Lincoln Avenue, according to prosecutors. He told the teen to turn around or he would shoot her, but she was able to get away, prosecutors said.
An hour later, around 8:30 a.m., Wiggins came up to a third woman as she was walking to work, prosecutors said. He forced the 30-year-old woman into her home and forced her to perform a sex act in her hallway, again pointing the gun at her head, prosecutors said.
Cops caught up with Wiggins later that morning when he tried to return the Dodge Caravan to a rental car agency at John F. Kennedy Airport, according to prosecutors.
Wiggins was convicted of four counts of predatory sexual assault, one count of first-degree burglary as a sexually motivated felony, one count of first-degree sexual abuse, one count of second-degree menacing, and one count of endangering the welfare of a child in March.
