No Brownsville, East NY Eateries Join NYC Summer Restaurant Week
Neighbors can still find 60 options across the borough who will participate in the July and August discounts.

EAST NEW YORK, BROOKLYN — Neighbors in Brownsville and East New York will have to travel outside the neighborhood to get a taste of NYC Restaurant Week this summer.
As in past years, no eateries from either neighborhood are participating in the summer restaurant week, which will officially start July 18 and last a full 30 days to celebrate the event's 30th anniversary. Reservations opened for the 623 spots participating across the five boroughs last week.
If residents want to score some deals they can find a few options in nearby Bed-Stuy or Crown Heights.

This isn't the first time Brownsville, East New York and the borough, have had a limited showing in the deal-driven event.
Still, the 59 Brooklyn eateries participating this year is a jump from past years. In 2019, only 12 Brooklyn eateries made the list for restaurant week, a number so low that Brooklyn started its own traditionto highlight the borough's best eats.
Manhattan still dominates the list with more than 500 eateries offering deals.
Unlike the past two Restaurant Weeks, this one will be the first since the coronavirus pandemic without sweeping masking and capacity restrictions.
"Masks and proof of vaccination are no longer required to dine indoors," the event's site states.
City officials still recommend that people wear high-quality masks in indoor public spaces to stop the spread of COVID-19.
