BROWNSVILLE, BROOKLYN — An unnamed NYPD officer in the 73rd precinct has been suspended without pay after Snapchatting a raid in Brownsville on Dec. 22, the NYPD confirmed to Patch.

The officer posted to Snapchat a photo of the family handcuffed in their apartment, with the caption "Merry Christmas Its NYPD!" A second photo was posted to the officer's Snapchat with the caption, "Warrant sweeps Its still a party smh."

Not only were the Snaps posted, but they also made their way to Snapchat's public "New York story" featured feed for millions of Snapchat users to view, ABC7 found.

"We thought he was texting on his phone," Brownsville resident Kimberly Santiago told ABC7. "Because the whole three hours we were sitting here, he was the one standing there. We saw him on his phone, but we didn't think an officer would do that."

An NYPD spokesperson told Patch that the matter is under internal review, and that the officers had the correct address. The spokesperson declined to tell Patch the name of the officer who was suspended, to which squad he was assigned, and the reason for the raid, other than to find a suspect.
