Attempted Rape Suspect Charged After Strangulating Woman: NYPD

The woman had suffered head and neck injuries, after he held her to the ground and gyrated on her, according to police.

BUSHWICK, NY — A man was arrested Saturday in connection with an attempted rape and the strangulation of a woman who was walking her dog late last month, according to the NYPD.

On the morning of July 30, a 30-year-old woman was with her dog at Woodbine Street and Ridgewood Place, when Patrick Serrano, of Bushwick, choked her from behind and forced her to the ground, police reported.

Serrano allegedly continued to strangle the woman while she was on the ground as he gyrated on her, but then ran toward the east on Woodbine Street, the report said. The victim had injuries to her head and neck and refused medical attention at the scene, but later went to Interfaith Medical Center.
