
The Gowanus Canal Community Development Corporation holds its 33rd annual Gala at the on May 5.
Gowanus, a more than 30-year-old not-for-profit organization, works to preserve and revitalize the area surrounding the Canal. The group's current goals include "environmental education, urban ecology and responsible redevelopment.
The Gala is from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. and distinguished guests to be honored include Borough President Marty Markowitz, DEP Commissioner Caswell Holloway, The Thread Collective and J. Jean Austin.
