Want the Columbia Street Salt Pile Moved? Sign the Petition

The salt pile at the foot of Kane Street next to the East River has been a contentious issue in the Columbia Waterfront community for three years now. Meetings have been held with American Stevedoring, and the Port Authority of NY and NJ, but one resident is taking matters into his own hands.

James Morgan, a 16-year resident, has written a petition that is amassing signatures quickly.

The petition, "Remove the Salt Pile on Columbia Street," currently has over 100 signatures.

Morgan said he wrote the petition because he felt residents' complaints were "falling on deaf ears."

"Residents really welcome the chance to make their voices heard," he said.
