The panzerotto was born in Puglia, a region of southern Italy, famous for its traditions and delicious food. A panzerotto is a half-moon-shaped pocket of dough filled with any number of sweet and savory ingredients. It is then wrapped and delicately fried until golden.
Indeed, a panzerotto (or panzerotti) is like a hot pocket or pizza roll of sorts. They can be filled with anything from cheese to vegetables to meat.
Here's a food.com recipe if you want to try to make one yourself.
