Late-Night Fireworks at Gowanus Houses Startle Neighbors

"For a split second I thought we were under attack."

Loud exploding noises and bright flashes of light coming from the Gowanus Houses in Boerum Hill on Thursday night from around 10:40 p.m. to 11 p.m. led some neighbors to believe there may have been a shooting.

We called the 76th Precinct to see what was up. “Fireworks,” said an officer who answered the phone at the precinct. He said local police were en route to put a stop to the activity and find the persons responsible.
