Pacific Library Reopening Delayed Until July, Officials Say
The reopening of the branch was pushed back from May until July after workers found more abatement needed to be done on the building.

BOERUM HILL, NY — The reopening of the Pacific Branch of the Brooklyn Library was pushed back until next month after crews found more work needed to be done to the more than a century old building, officials said.
Renovations to the 25 Fourth Ave. library was originally supposed to complete in May, however, the project was delayed until July when workers found the building needed more abatement work, Bklyner first reported.
"As we put the finishing touches on an improved Pacific Library, we are excited to be able to provide area residents with new features, including ADA compliant bathrooms, new air conditioning, and revitalized spaces with energy-efficient lighting and fresh paint," Fritzi Bodenheimer, a spokeswoman for the BPL, told Patch in a statement.

"We appreciate the community’s patience and look forward to opening day in July."
The Pacific branch first shuttered in March so workers could repair and upgrade the 114-year-old library, the first one built with money from Andrew Carnegie in the borough, according to the BPL.

Plans call to add new floors, ceilings, projector, television and air-conditioner to the lower-level auditorium of the Pacific Library, the BPL said. Crews will also paint the branch, winterize the windows and add new lighting and tables with power outlets.
The work also calls to retrofit a door to accommodate a ramp they plan to install after it re-opens, according to the BPL.
