TRANSIT ALERT: 4, 5 Trains Halted Between Brooklyn and Manhattan
Power issues prevented 4 and 5 Trains from traveling through the tunnel under the East River late Thursday afternoon.

All service between Brooklyn and Manhattan via the 4 Train and the 5 Train has been halted as of about 5 p.m. on Thursday.
“As a result of a Con-Ed power issue affecting our signals inside the Joralemon Tube, there is no 4 or 5 service between Manhattan and Brooklyn,” MTA spokesman Kevin Ortiz told Patch.
Southbound 4 and 5 Trains are currently stopping at Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall and Bowling Green, respectively, reports CBS New York, and northbound 4 Trains are stopping at Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center.

MTA officials recommend that commuters avoid the 4 and 5 until the tunnel’s power is back on.
“We’re trying to bring in a backup generator,” Ortiz said at 5:30 p.m. However, he didn’t know how long that would take.
