Car Crashes Into Center Moriches Business

CENTER MORICHES, NY — A car slammed into a Center Moriches business Monday morning, fire officials said.

According to the Center Moriches Fire Department, the incident took place just before 8:30 at Carpet King, located on Main Street off Union Avenue.

When firefighters and paramedics arrived, they found that a single vehicle had careened into Carpet King, which was closed at the time, the fire department said.

The vehicle, which had been traveling west on Montauk Highway, struck a vehicle on the shoulder of the road then veered across the eastbound lanes into the Carpet King showroom on the south side of the road, fire officials said.

The driver of the vehicle was transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries, firefighters said.
