1. Sunday, in Ronkonkoma, a Suffolk County Auxiliary Police captain assisted a neighbor in rescuing four dogs from a house fire and evacuated neighboring residents. Firefighters from Lakeland Fire Department, Nesconset Fire Department, Bohemia Fire Department, Holtsville Fire Department, and Hauppauge Fire Department responded to extinguish the fire. 2. Join painting instructor Linda O'Connell and learn how to paint a daffodil on a pillow at the MMS Community Library on May 2 at 6 p.m. An investment of $17 will be required for the materials used in the class. (MMSCL)
3. On Friday morning, Terry Long, 32, a Ronkonkoma man, was shot outside his home when he went outside to start his car, went inside, and when he came back outside again, he was shot multiple times. Long was taken by ambulance to Stony Brook Hospital where he was pronounced dead. (Patch)
4. The Waterdrinker Family Farm & Garden in Manorville is celebrating Tulip Festival with one million tulips in bloom! The team at Waterdrinker is hoping that the blossoms last until Mother's Day, but don't count on it, tulips prefer cooler weather. Waterdrinker Family Farm & Garden is located at 663 Wading River Road in Manorville. The farm and tulip fields are open daily and admission is $15 per person Monday-Friday and $20 per person on Saturdays and Sundays. Children under 2 are free.
