2. Darryl "DMC" McDaniels, a 1982 William Floyd High School graduate, recently visited the school. McDaniels shared his experiences growing up in New York City, comparing his experiences as being similar to what students experience today; he made his first record right out of high school. For the record, McDaniels is a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee and Grammy Award winner. (Patch)
3. A report created by BusPatrol America, the company that operates the school-bus-camera program, indicated that there were 85,608 school-bus-camera violations (failing to stop for school buses) from May - December 2021 for Suffolk alone. The eight-month violation period yielded roughly $12.1 million in revenue, Suffolk has received about $6.6 million of that, and about $77,000 went to East End municipalities that adjudicate their own violations. 4. Daniel Mason, 20, of Yaphank was apprehended at his home, five days after he sped away from deputy sheriffs on the Long Island Expressway before crashing nearby. The passenger of the car, Edward Smith, 20, of Yaphank, was apprehended at the accident scene where police found drugs, a stun gun, and $3,240 in cash. Smith is charged with possession of controlled substances and the vehicle was impounded and the investigation is ongoing. (Patch)
