  1. The Center Moriches Fire Department would like to make you aware that this is National EMS Week. We should all honor the Paramedics and EMTs who provide life-saving emergency medical services to our community. A big thank you to the ones who answer the call. (Facebook)
  2. The daughter of Jesse Bonsignore is suing the Suffolk County Police officer who fired his gun and killed her father in Manorville. She alleges in the lawsuit that police have denied evidence such as access to a video recording of the incident, an autopsy report and the disciplinary history of the officer involved in the shooting.   3. William Floyd Middle school student Jack Meyer received a $500 Suffolk County Music Educators Association (SCMEA) scholarship. The award will be invested in private lessons to advance his career goals! Each year SCMEA awards students for the annual summer studies. (LIA)
  4. Suffolk police said, Keith Schoelermann, 29, of Mastic Beach, a level 2 sex offender, was arrested on Thursday in connection with having child pornography. Suffolk County Probation officers found unregistered cellphone with child pornography on it during a routine check on Schoelermann, police said. Schoelermann was charged and held overnight at the Third Precinct. (Patch)
  5. Part of the district’s robust Career and Technical Education (CTE) offerings, is the William Floyd Home Design & Carpentry Academy. The team recently joined Habitat for Humanity for a day to help with a home being constructed in Riverhead. The students delivered a shed that they had been working on during the school year, then finished the project on site. The William Floyd Home Design & Carpentry Academy offers a two-year program that combines hands-on skill development and technical training in carpentry. (LongIsland.com)
