Here are the top stories today in Center Moriches-Eastport:

  1. View Senior events from April 10 to April 17. Learn about Native American prehistory and history on Long Island, or if dining is your favorite, learn how to make Thai spring rolls. This applies to all of us, Learn postural therapy, the art of standing up straight! (Newsday)
  2. The highly contagious norovirus, a stomach bug, is spreading throughout New York and other states. The norovirus is an aggressive food-borne illness that can easily spread to people through contaminated food and water. So far, the illness has been traced to eating raw oysters from British Columbia and distributed in at least 13 states. To prevent the spread, people are encouraged to wash their hands the right way, for at least 20 seconds under hot, soapy water, taking care to scrub under nails and between your fingers. Also, clean up food preparation surfaces with diluted bleach. (Smithtown Patch)
  3. Good news! Stop & Shop announced that it will carry the two FDA authorized COVID-19 anti-viral medications, Paxlovid and Molnupiravir, at all of its New York pharmacies. The best news is that the medication is free with a valid prescription from a health care provider. But the store asks that the infected individual stay home and send a trusted friend of family member to pick up the prescription. Need the COVID-19 Booster #2? That too can be obtained at NY Stop & Shop pharmacies! (News 12 Long Island)
  4. William Moschetto, 33, of Mount Sinai, was killed by a car in Coram Wednesday afternoon. A light-colored SUV hit the cyclist throwing him off the bicycle and into the roadway, where another driver hit him. The driver in the SUV left the scene, but the second driver stayed at the crash scene. (Daily Voice)
  5. Some say our healthcare system is broken, one North Fork woman is raising awareness that the system leaves millions crippled with debt every year. The Southold resident, Alexa Suess, is readying to set off on a journey of more than 100 miles for her fundraiser, Miles for Medical Debt, was born from her own struggles with healthcare.
