ICYMI: Central Park Film Festival Returns With Free Outdoor Screenings

CENTRAL PARK, NY — The annual Central Park Conservancy Film Festival is set to return in late August with four free film screenings on the park's Sheep Meadow and two screenings in Harlem's Marcus Garvey Park.

"The Film Festival is a beloved summer tradition that showcases great films in a great urban park," reads the conservancy's website.

This is the second year in a row that the film festival will feature screenings outside Central Park, according to the conservancy. The festival will kick off Aug. 21 in Marcus Garvey Park with the 2014 "Annie" remake. After two screening in Harlem, the festival will return to Central Park on Aug. 23.

All of the movie showings are completely free to attend. The gates open at 6:30 p.m. and the movies begin at 8 p.m., so be sure to get there early and claim a spot with a good view of the screen. Don't worry about sitting around bored for an hour, as a DJ will be spinning tunes until the movie starts.

Alcoholic beverages, any drinks contain in glass bottles, chairs, video cameras and tape recorders will not be allowed at the screenings, according to the Central Park Conservancy.

• Aug. 23 in Central Park's Sheep Meadow: "The Great Gatsby" (2013)
• Aug. 24 in Central Park's Sheep Meadow: "Saturday Night Fever" (1977)
• Aug. 25 in Central Park's Sheep Meadow: "The Godfather" (1972)
• Aug. 26 in Central Park's Sheep Meadow: "Spider-Man 3" (2007)
