Frigid, Fast Winds To Blast NYC During First Cold Snap: See Timeline
Forecasters expect temperatures to dip into the low 30s near the coast, with wind chills making it feel even colder across much of region.
NEW YORK CITY — An early blast of winter weather is headed for the New York City metro area from Monday night to early Tuesday, forecasters at the National Weather Service said.
The National Weather Service has issued a freeze warning in effect overnight from 1 a.m. through 9 a.m. Tuesday, according to the latest data.
Forecasters said they expect temperatures to dip into the low 30s near the coast, with wind chills making it feel even colder across much of the region on Tuesday night, due to wind gusts blowing as high as 40 miles per hour.

"With temperatures expected to drop well below the historical average across the East, businesses should prepare for impacts to outdoor operations, supply chains and infrastructure. Power demand will increase sharply, and risks to unprotected plumbing and irrigation systems will rise," AccuWeather Meteorologist Alex Duffus said.

Wednesday will see a slight improvement as temps climb up to the upper 40s, and Thursday will see continued improvement, with the high in the low 50s.

Things will remain dry and chilly through the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

Monday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 32. West wind 8 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph.
Tuesday: Increasing clouds, with a high near 43. West wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 40 mph.
Tuesday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 37. West wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph.
Wednesday: Partly sunny, with a high near 50. Southwest wind 9 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.
Wednesday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 42.
Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 52.
Thursday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 39.
Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 52.
Friday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 37.
