A cold front and a thunderstorm will bring more autumnal temperatures and beneficial rain to the Big Apple this week.
NEW YORK CITY — Showers and thunderstorms are headed toward New York City on Tuesday, bringing much-needed rain and cooler autumnal temperatures, forecasters from the National Weather Service said.

"The incoming front is expected to bring beneficial rain across many of the drought-stricken areas across the Midwest and Northeast," said AccuWeather Meteorologist Brandon Buckingham. "However, it will not be enough to erase the drought conditions."
The rain will clear out by Wednesday evening, forecasters said. Thursday and Friday will be seasonably cool with highs in the low-to-mid-60s, according to the National Weather Service.
