NEW YORK CITY — Halloween is on a Friday this year, which means celebrations will stretch into the weekend in the Big Apple. Adding to the fun, Halloween won’t fall on a Friday again until 2031.
There’s still time to get in on the Halloween fun at haunted immersive theater, costume parties, ghost tours, and even a Dia de los Muertos celebration.

Madame Morbid's Ghost Tour of Brooklyn
- What: Climb aboard Madame Morbid’s Trolley Tours for a spooky, story-filled ride through Brooklyn’s haunted history. This Victorian-style trolley winds through historic neighborhoods, sharing eerie tales of ghosts, tragedy, and local lore—from séance disasters to a headless ghost.

Viola's Room at The Shed
- What: Step into Viola’s Room, an immersive labyrinth of sound, shadow, and sensation from the creators of Sleep No More. Guided by an unseen narrator, visitors unravel a haunting gothic mystery where innocence fades and obsession takes hold.

Disney Tim Burton’s "The Nightmare Before Christmas" Light Trail
- What: Step into a moonlit wonderland as Disney Tim Burton’s "The Nightmare Before Christmas" Light Trail returns to the New York Botanical Garden. Fans can wander through illuminated scenes from the beloved film, featuring Jack Skellington, Sally, Zero, and more — with expanded displays, themed treats, and spooky-fun merchandise.

- When: Wednesdays through Sundays, now through Nov. 30
Citywide "Trick-Or-Streets"
- What: Trick-or-Streets will return to Open Streets, pedestrian plazas, and other corridors throughout the city and feature a record high 137 car-free events beginning Oct. 17 through Oct. 31. This year, Trick-or-Streets will feature Halloween and harvest-themed events. Programming will include live music, fun activities, interactive performances, and more, officials said.

Cuentos de Miedo y Otras Pendejadas
- What: Cuentos de Miedo y Otras Pendejadas, which means "Scary Stories and Other Stupid Things" is an immersive dance-theater experience that twists childhood fears into darkly comic, surreal storytelling. Created by choreographer Elliott Ortiz, the show reimagines Latin American legends like El Cuco, La Bruja, and El Duende through haunting movement and biting humor.

Governors Island Pumpkin Point
- What: This year’s Governors Island fall festival goes beyond the pumpkin patch with trick-or-treating, live folk music, crafts, puppet shows, a Fall Foliage Tree Tour, performances by Hopalong Andrew, and plenty of seasonal food and drink from local vendors—all free and family-friendly.

Halloween Parade
- What: Every year, the New York City Department of Transportation closes several roads in lower Manhattan so that more than 50,000 costumed parade-goers can march in the annual Halloween Parade. The parade, now in its 52nd year, will send ghouls, witches, monsters and other spooky night creatures up Sixth Avenue from Canal Street to 15th Street, according to its organizers.

Vampire Ball
- What: The Vampire Ball 2025 is taking over Industry City in Brooklyn this Halloween, transforming the sprawling warehouse complex into a darkly decadent music and arts festival spread across seven stages. Expect a labyrinth of eerie installations, pulsing beats—and, for the brave, a full-on “blood rave” where crimson rain will pour from above.

Halloween at the Guggenheim
- What: Celebrate a family-friendly Halloween at the Guggenheim with art, music, and costumes. Enjoy mask-making, spooky tunes, and family-friendly fun inside the museum’s iconic rotunda.

- When: Oct. 31
The Haunting of HK Hall: The Haunted Circus
- What: Back for its fifth year, The Haunting of HK Hall takes over 30,000 square feet with DJs, LED walls, and immersive circus performances. Dance across multiple stages—from high-energy main sets to an R&B lounge and a Reggaeton rooftop.

El Museo del Barrio’s Dia de los Muertos Celebration
- What: Celebrate Día de los Muertos at El Museo del Barrio’s Super Sábado on Saturday, November 1, with free admission from 12–6 p.m. Enjoy live performances, art-making, face painting, and a communal altar honoring loved ones past.
