Thunderstorm Targets NYC Wednesday, Forecasters Warn
Some thunderstorms in the area could produce locally strong, damaging wind gusts in addition to heavy rainfall and frequent lightning.
NEW YORK CITY — Showers and thunderstorms of varying intensity are headed toward New York City Wednesday afternoon, forecasters from the National Weather Service said.
According to the latest forecast, there's a chance of thunderstorms and rain showers after 2 p.m. Wednesday, which will last into Thursday, cooling things off in the city before the weekend.
The National Weather Service forecasters said there is a "marginal risk" of severe weather, as some thunderstorms in the area could produce locally strong, damaging wind gusts in addition to heavy rainfall and frequent lightning. Up to one inch of rain could fall, forecasters said.
