In an alert, shortly after the collision, state police said the northbound Taconic State Parkway was closed at Exit 8, in New Castle. All northbound traffic was required to take Exit 8, and drivers were asked to seek alternate routes.

In an advisory, New Castle police warned the public to avoid the Taconic State Parkway, from Exit 8 (Millwood/Briarcliff) to Exit 11 (Pinesbridge), while NYSP investigated the accident. Drivers were also warned that Route 100 was being used as a detour, which caused high traffic volume and congestion in the Millwood area of the town, as well as on nearby county and town roads.

The northbound lanes of the Taconic State Parkway remained closed Wednesday night as the investigation continued.
