Chappaqua Is A Great Place To Be A Kid (Or A Parent) This Fall

From the renowned Chappaqua Children's Book Fair to the Pinkalicious Live to the scarecrow building festival, autumn is our season.

CHAPPAQUA, NY — It's not a very well kept secret that Northern Westchester is one of the best places to enjoy the brilliant colors of autumn, but Chappaqua has slowly become the center of the universe when it come to fall activities for children and families.

The Chappaqua Children’s Book Festival starts soon. On Saturday, September 30, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m, the Chappaqua train station becomes a literary circus of epic proportion. This year’s festival promises be the largest one yet, with 180 children's authors on hand, including Mary Pope Osborne and Alan Gratz.

The 10th annual festival will have something for everyone with authors who have published a wide range of reading levels and genres. There will be readings, special presentations, illustrator demos, book signings, a bubble bus and, of course, books for sale.

One favorite children's character will be live and singing a pink-a-tastic show.

Pinkalicious the Musical will take the stage on Sunday, October 1, at 1 p.m at the Chappaqua Performing Arts Center. Author Victoria Kann will be on hand to meet fans before the performance. Tickets are available here.

Pink-incredible news! A second performance has just been added at 3:30 p.m. The pre-show author appearance is only available before the 1 p.m. performance but all ticketholders are welcome to come to the appearance, regardless of performance time.

Soon after the book festival packs up, the train station will host the Hudson Valley's spookiest festival.

The Scarecrow Building Festival will be held on Sunday, October 1 from 1-4 p.m. Pre-registration is required through the Recreation and Parks Department.

And, of course, the cutest of all events will return in time to kick off the season of tricks and treats.

The Town Ragamuffin Parade will be held on Sunday, October 22, beginning at 12:30 p.m. at the Chappaqua train station. All are invited to bring their little ghouls in their cutest costumes to parade through town.
