Chappaqua Small Business Spotlight: Effortless Health by Diana

Our small business series shines a light on local business owners in the community.

Every local business has a story worth sharing with the community. And that’s the belief behind this exciting series — to shine the spotlight on all our favorite local businesses, and to learn a little about the ones we may not know that well.

How did you come up with the name?

When I started writing a blog last winter my intent was to make the process of choosing healthy foods effortless for people. As I developed my coaching practice model, my number one intent is for people to recognize that I am assisting them in creating life long effortless health and lifestyle habits.

Why start a business in this town?

I feel like now more than ever we are in a confused health crisis. The most educated and aware people are more confused than ever about what food they should be eating that is best for them. I think that people need someone to listen to them speak about their choices and understand what is driving them to make these choices. Anyone can print up a diet plan and follow it, but I feel there is a need for more sharing, communicating and support surrounding ones personal health and weight goals. This is me following my dream of creating work around something I love. I hope to help others do the same.

What business are you in?

Nutrition health coach and educator.

What’s the most difficult challenge you’ve faced as a business owner?

Creating awareness of my services. Overcoming my own fear of marketing myself to the greater community.

What’s been your proudest achievement since opening?

I’m really proud of overcoming my fear of being “seen” as pushy. I still get nervous when I am about to hit send on a new blog post, or on my social media pages, but I do it knowing that this is how to get the information out there with tips and different food scoop finds. I’m excited to be teaching a class this fall at the community center that will focus on how different foods can support our health in unique ways.

How does your business give back to the community?

Anyone who has improved their health in someway and feels better about a choice they have made in the supermarket because of something they may have learned from me is how I feel connected to giving to the greater community. At this time, I give back to my community by giving my time to the JCCA Cottage School in Pleasantville.
