Life Around the Globe Week: 7B Celebrates International Day
The events showcased the diverse traditions, cultures, and experiences of the Seven Bridges and Chappaqua communities.

Seven Bridges Middle School held its annual Life Around the Globe Week International Day event on January 25, 2024. Thank you to the Seven Bridges Middle School PTA for partnering on this important event.
The day showcased the diverse traditions, cultures, and experiences of the Seven Bridges and Chappaqua communities. Students participated in musical and cultural performances and presentations, food tastings, and learning opportunities led by PTA volunteers, staff members, and Greeley students. The range of activities represented countries from around the world.

Some of the highlights from these performances and learning opportunities included:
- A demonstration of Kendo, a Japanese martial art
- Spanish, Chinese, and Indian musical performances
- Learning about Egyptian history and practicing writing hieroglyphics
- Exploring African textiles and jewelry
- Learning about the Chinese Lunar New Year festival with students in Greeley’s Chinese program
- Celebrating the holiday of Tu Bishvat with students from Greeley’s Jewish Student Union
- A hummus making demonstration
- Practicing Brazilian Carnival dancing
Interim Principal Dr. Lauralyn Steward shared, “Life Around the Globe is more than just an event; it's a 7B tradition that emphasizes the celebration of other cultures, the exploration of diverse origins, and the understanding that differences are meant to be embraced. Students not only gained insights into various countries but also got a sneak peek into the many cultural clubs offered at the high school.”

Dr. Stewart continued, “While today marked a special day to honor the rich backgrounds of each country, we are committed to finding ways to learn from and celebrate each other every day at 7B. Our school continues to be a place where all students are valued for who they are.”
