Piaget SolPiaget, Executive Director of the Northern Westchester/Putnam Women's Resource Center spoke to the Polly Cooper Chapter, National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution on Oct. 26, 2025, about the mission of the Resource Center and the needs of the women, children and men who avail themselves of its services.

The Polly Cooper Chapter, recognizing October as Women's Health Awareness Month, chose to educate their membership on the physical and mental health of the predominantly women who avail themselves of this resource center, particularly coming from an incident (s) of domestic violence.

Mr. SolPiaget cited sobering statistics regarding the high incidence of intimate partner abuse, sexual and physical assault and domestic violence in the area and the fact that the Northern Westchester/Putnam Women's Resource Center assists over 1500 women annually.

The Polly Cooper Chapter collected toiletries, blankets, towels and other essentials to create baskets to ease the first night for women who are seeking shelter from a situation of domestic violence. It was stressed that these baskets are crucial for the first steps in the road to recovery and healing as the recipients know they have support from members of the community.
