Mark Pellegrini Recognized by DAR for Service Recognizing US Veterans
Local Polly Cooper,NSDAR Chapter Grants Community Service Award to Eagle Scout

On October 29, 2025, the Polly Cooper Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, was pleased to attend the Eagle Scout Court of Honor to recognize Mark Pellegrini, from Rye BSA Troop 2.
Regent Judy Carey and Community Service Chapter Chair Kim McCrea presented Mark Pelligrini a Community Service Award, recognizing his extensive project recognizing veterans interred in one of our local community cemeteries. Mark's Eagle Scout Project involved identifying and marking graves of 2000 veterans at Greenwood Union, Cemetery, and directing 200 volunteers in placing United States flags on their graves. The project involved obtaining grant money for the purchase of flags, mapping out the gravesites of veterans, and having a sustainability plan to rotate replacements of frayed and worn flags as needed.
Regent Judy Carey commented , "Mark is an impressive young man. His recognition and honoring of local veterans by marking their graves with American flags is a tremendous service to our veteran community and our community at large." Members of the Polly Cooper Chapter were pleased to see that the younger generation is taking an active role in honoring the service and sacrifice of our veterans. Mark's project exemplifies the pillar of Patriotism , which is one of the core principles on which the DAR is established upon.
