Mount Kisco Architects Behind Landmarks Named 'Firm Of The Year'

The honor was given to KG+D Architects by the American Institute of Architects. The firm's work can be seen throughout the Hudson Valley.

MOUNT KISCO, NY — The Mount Kisco architects behind some of the Northeast's most beloved buildings are building a legacy among their peers as well.

KG+D Architects, based in Mount Kisco, has been named the Firm of the Year by the American Institute of Architects New York State Chapter (AIANYS).

Established in 2005, the AIANYS Firm Award recognizes notable achievements in design, community service, education and service to the profession and the AIA by an architectural firm in New York State for a period of at least 10 years.

KG+D is the first firm to receive this award that does not have an office in New York City.

The firm has been in practice in Mount Kisco for 28 years and has built upon a legacy of over 90 years of service to clients throughout the Hudson Valley/Fairfield County region.

It wasn't just the firm's impressive roll call of some of the Hudson Valley's most recognizable buildings — the firm has a reputation for providing an impressive foundation in the industry and the local community.

Four of the firm's principals became licensed architects while working at KG+D and this has been the only firm that they have worked for throughout their career. One principal started at KG+D as a high school intern and the current president of the firm has worked for the firm for over 37 years.

Many of KG+D's staff, which is 40 percent female, have worked in the firm for 20 years or longer.

KG+D team members are also involved in supporting local non-profit and community agencies through volunteering both personal time and professional services.

In the past five years, KG+D has been the Architect of Record on approximately $590 million dollars’ worth of construction with $430 million dollars in the public facility market. This equates to approximately 73 percent of the firm’s total workload, according to KG+D. Over the past 28 years, the firm has provided services for projects ranging in size from a $70 million new school to a $20,000 sidewalk improvement project.
