New 'Athletic-Based Fitness' Concept, D1 Training, Gets Starting Gun
Kyle Stover and Jennifer Lung have opened a new sort of fitness facility catering to youth and adult athletes in Armonk.

ARMONK, NY — The training and sports science resources famously tapped by elite athletes are now available to anyone with the eye of the tiger inside of them.
D1 Training, a fitness concept focused on five core tenets of athletic-based training, opened its newest location in Armonk on Monday, at 130 Business Park Drive. The group fitness facility says that it uses a sports science-backed training regimen led by certified trainers to help people of all ages achieve their sport and fitness goals.
To celebrate the new location’s launch, Armonk neighbors and residents are invited to stop by and meet the facility’s team at its grand opening event. There will also be a chance to get in on founding member rates which are 20 percent off normal rates.

"We are so excited to be able to provide a high level of athletic training and development to local athletes here in Armonk, and to see them grow and get the best out of themselves," D1 Training owner Kyle Stover said. "Being able to work with not only the star athlete, but the kid in the back of the room who might not be as gifted, and to get the most out of them mentally and physically, is something that we really embrace about D1 Training."
Kyle Stover and Jennifer Lung now join a growing roster of existing franchisees and owners, some of which include professional athletes, including Super Bowl MVP Von Miller, Tim Tebow and Michael Oher.

Stover and Lung have more than 30 years of combined experience in the physical therapy industry, and have spent the last 12 years owning their own physical therapy business in the Armonk area. D1 Training will allow them to work with athletes to not only help them recover, but grow and develop, according to the co-owners.
Nashville-based D1 Training was founded in 2001 by former NFL player Will Bartholomew, and began franchising in 2017. The company was recently ranked in Entrepreneur Magazine’s Franchise 500, was named a Top 30 Gym in America by Men’s Health Magazine, and also made an appearance on The Inc. 5000 which ranks the fastest growing private companies in the nation. D1 Training has been endorsed by the NFL Players Association as an approved training facility and is a preferred partner of the National Academy of Sports Medicine.
D1 Training offers four age-based programs:
- Rookie, ages 7-11
- Developmental, ages 12-14
- Prep, ages 15-18
- D1 Adult
Each fitness program is based on five athletic-based tenets at the heart of the D1 method: dynamic warm-up, performance, strength program, core and conditioning, and cool down. In addition to group workouts, D1 Training will also offer one-on-one training with coaches, with the goal of training athletes who are dedicated to their sport or their fitness goals, regardless of age or athletic background.
"Kyle and Jennifer are the ideal candidates to bring the D1 Training experience to Armonk," D1 Training COO Dan Murphy. "We’re thrilled to welcome them to the D1 family and are confident in their ability to show the Armonk area what they’ve been missing out on. D1 is a one-of-a-kind fitness experience that’s built around the individual and meant to help people meet their appropriate edge. Our strong network of franchisees embodies our core values to bring the D1 Training vision to life, and we know Kyle and Jennifer will do just that in Armonk and its surrounding communities."
