Polly Cooper Chapter Honors Teachers During Teacher Appreciation Week
Local DAR Chapter celebrates teachers at Ardsley's Concord Road School
The Polly Cooper Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) proudly recognized the teachers and staff at Concord Road School during Teacher Appreciation Week. Thank-you notes and baskets filled with delicious treats were presented to the faculty to express gratitude for their unwavering dedication to education.
Education is one of the three pillars of the DAR, and this DAR chapter is particularly passionate about promoting literacy and supporting community classrooms. As part of the Polly Cooper Community Classroom initiatives, second-grade teacher Rebecca Schiz from Ardsley Union Free School received several age-appropriate books to enhance the classroom library, along with various supplies from her classroom wishlist.
Kari Kjontvedt Weis, the Community Classroom Chair for the New York State DAR, highlighted the vital role that community classrooms play in educating young students. She emphasized how these initiatives not only promote literacy but also enhance students' academic performance and their social and emotional skills.
