Special Council Meeting Tonight

Common Council meeting tonight will examine fiscal improvement plan

The Poughkeepsie City Council will meet in a special session at 6 p.m. tonight to evaluate a detailed strategic fiscal improvement plan completed by Capital Market Advisors.

The goal of the plan is to help the city evaluate its financial issues and the current financial climate, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal.

The city currently is looking at an $11 million deficit. Another issue is the city's cash flow, which has left it owing money to several entities, including the city school district and the state pension fund.
