Volunteer Opportunities Of The Week: Summer Toy Drive

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Each week, Patch will be highlighting volunteer opportunities in the Hudson Valley. This will be a chance to help your community and be an opportunity to give back — perhaps in a way you didn't consider before.

This week we are putting the spotlight on some opportunities in the Hudson Valley.

World Breastfeeding Week Activity Volunteers
Help celebrate World Breastfeeding Week by entertaining older kids while their mothers participate in educational workshops about breastfeeding. Activities will include leading art and craft projects for kids, assisting with event set-up and breakdown, and other tasks as needed. Perfect for volunteers 16+.
Date: Tuesday, Aug. 1 to Friday, Aug. 4

Summer Toy Drive
Family Services of Westchester is hosting a summertime toy drive for the young children of its Prime Time Program. Volunteers are asked to purchase toys — including bubbles, frisbees and balls — to be used for outdoor play.
Date: Drop off by Thursday, Aug. 31

Gardening Tuesdays at Lasdon Park
Volunteers will work alongside gardeners to complete planting, watering, weeding, pruning, staking, deadheading, potting up, and other garden projects. No experience is necessary! Volunteers have the opportunity to enhance their gardening skills and plant knowledge while having fun with family, friends, and coworkers.
Date: Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to noon
