Westchester DAR's "Project Patriot Party" Supports U.S. Service Women
Polly Cooper Chapter, NSDAR sends Valentine's Day themed care packages to women serving overseas in the U.S. Armed Forces.
The Polly Cooper Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) gathered on Sunday, January 12, 2025, in Bedford New York, to put together care packages for women serving in the armed forces. These Valentine’s Day-themed boxes are filled with books, candy, coffee and tea, drink mixes, protein bars, snacks, stationery products, and personal care items. Each package also includes cards and notes of gratitude and encouragement. Participants purchased goods based on recommendations for deployed personnel and donated funds to cover the shipping costs. Girl Scouts Heart of the Hudson provided boxes of Girl Scout Cookies and other treats from their Operation Cookie Drop program. The care packages are sent to arrive by Valentine’s Day as a sweet reminder that the recipients are being thought about from afar.
The chapter holds a “Project Patriot Party” each year, named after the DAR Project Patriot Committee, which is the official committee of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) that supports the active duty military and their families. “It is important to our chapter members to be able to support courageous women like these,” stated Polly Cooper Chapter Regent Rosemarie Schmidt. “We believe the care packages help convey our heartfelt appreciation and in a small way recognize the sacrifices required by those serving and protecting our nation.”

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (dar.org) is a non-profit, non-political women’s service organization founded in 1890 to promote Historic Preservation, Education, and Patriotism across the United States.
