CHELSEA, NY — Desus Nice and The Kid Mero's pursuit of new "creative endeavors" after their high-profile split unfortunately will force dozens of workers to search for new gigs.

The end of Showtime's "Desus & Mero Show" will lead to the permanent layoff of 73 employees starting Aug. 15, according to a dislocated workers notice filed with the state.

Unfortunately for the Bodega Hive, the notice doesn't provide much new in terms of answers — much less confirmation of rumors of internal drama on the TV talk show — as to what led to the Bronx duo's professional breakup.

"Reason for Dislocation: TV hosts Desus Nice and The Kid Mero are in pursuit of separate creative endeavors," the notice states.

Showtime representatives didn't return a request for comment.

Desus Nice and The Kid Mero built a rabid — and sizable — following based on their decidedly New York City-focused personalities and easy-going friendship.

Their "Bodega Boys" podcast led to a Vice show, then the "Desus & Mero" talk show on Showtime.

But starting in July, rumors spread that the once-inseparable pair had split. This was confirmed when Showtime representatives announced the "Desus & Mero" show wouldn't return for a fifth season because they would be "pursuing separate creative endeavors," as detailed in a Vulture report.

But a report on Puck pinned the blame on the comedy pair's longtime manager, who was accused of "a--hole behavior" behind the scenes on the TV show. Desus agreed with Showtime's decision to ask the manager to not attend tapings or meetings, while Mero stuck by him out of loyalty, according to the report.

Regardless, the split appears permanent enough to end the show and lead to layoffs in the TV show headquartered in the New Yorker Hotel building on Eighth Avenue, according to the notice.

"Some employees will be retained with the wrap up of the show and their employment will end on November 18, 2022," the notice states.
