This Hudson Yards Skyscraper Will Change The Manhattan Skyline
The skyscraper will cost $3.7 billion and is expected to be completed in 2022.

HUDSON YARDS, NY — Construction will begin on a massive new 65-story skyscraper in June, the latest project in the new Hudson Yards neighborhood that will transform the Manhattan skyline.
The real estate company Tishman Speyer announced Tuesday that it had secured the necessary financing to build "The Spiral," as it has dubbed its new office tower, which will be located at 66 Hudson Boulevard. The tower, which is estimated to cost $3.7 billion in total, gets its name from a cascading series of landscaped terraces and hanging gardens that will ascend the build in a spiraling motion, according to Tishman Speyer. Together, the terraces and gardens will create a continuous green pathway that wraps around the façade of the building.
Tishman Speyer also announced that the pharmaceutical giant Pfizer would be the building's anchor tenant, taking up 15 floors in the office tower once it's built. Pfizer will relocate its current headquarters from East 42nd Street and move to Hudson Yards as part of a 20-year lease agreement, the companies said.

In total, The Spiral will include 2.8 million square feet of space, which will include some "first-class retail" on the lower levels, Tishman Speyer said.
The skyscraper is expected to be completed in 2022. The building was designed by BIG-Bjarke Ingels Group. The tower is being financed with $1.9 billion in equity from Tishman Speyer and a $1.8 billion construction loan from Blackstone Mortgage Trust, Inc., plus other investors, the company said.

The neighborhood of Hudson Yards is in the middle of a massive transformation, as developers create new public space, residential and office buildings after the area was rezoned in 2005. The Spiral will be fourth supertall skyscraper (a building that stands at least 1,000 feet tall) to rise in the neighborhood.
