NEW YORK, NY — The year of 2023 is officially here and there is still plenty to do around New York City.

From a comedy festival in Lower Manhattan to a light show in a Brooklyn garden, there are lots of options around the city in the coming days.

Saturday

Funny Immigrants Festival: Lower Manhattan

A stand-up comedy festival featuring immigrant and first-generation comedians is kicking off on Saturday, and running through Jan. 14.

The shows will be hosted by The Kraine Theater at 85 E. 14th St., and Under St. Marks at 94 St. Marks Place.

Learn How To Roll Sushi: Kew Gardens, Queens

There are lots of sushi lovers across the city, but not many who know how to create a roll themselves.

Did You Khado! is hosting an in-person hand-rolling sushi class at 1 p.m. at 152-11 89th Ave.

Last Chance To See Lightscape at Brooklyn Botanical Garden: Prospect Heights, Brooklyn

The Lightscape is an illuminated trail with the Brooklyn Botanical Garden that comes with hot chocolate, seasonal treats, and music.

The show has been running through the holiday season, and your last chance to check it out is this Sunday.

The Lion King on Broadway: Theater District, Manhattan

There might be no better way to start a new year with a timeless classic, and that is exactly what going to see The Lion King on Broadway serves up.

The two-and-a-half hour show is at the Minskoff Theatre at 200 W. 45th St., with one performance starting at 2 p.m. and another at 8 p.m.

Bull Riding: Madison Square Garden

It's not every day that New Yorkers get a chance to watch bull riding within the city, but Madison Square Garden is hosting the 35 highest ranked bull riders in the world this weekend.

Buck Off at The Garden will have pyrotechnics, explosions, flames, and the world's best bull riding.

Prototype Festival, The All Sing "HERE LIES JOY": Times Square, Manhattan

Prototype, an opera theater, is celebrating its 10th anniversary on Sunday with a 15-minute performance at 2 p.m. at Duffy Square in Times Square.

The group will perform "The All Sing," an ode to song and human connection that brings people together inspired by the COVID pandemic.
