Working as a teacher for 45 years is a significant milestone. During this time, one learns a lot about children, their needs, and their development. Through my extensive experience in education, I have gained insight into what children need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Here are some of the things I have learned about children after working as a teacher for 45 years:

Every child is unique: Children come from different backgrounds, cultures, and experiences, and they all have different learning styles and personalities. It is crucial to recognize and respect these differences to help each child reach their full potential.

Positive reinforcement is essential: Children thrive when they receive positive feedback for their efforts and achievements. Positive reinforcement helps build their self-esteem, confidence, and motivation.

Play is critical for development: Play is a child's work, and it is crucial for their physical, social, and emotional development. Through play, children learn to problem-solve, negotiate, and build relationships with their peers.

Relationships are key: Building positive relationships with children is crucial to their academic success and emotional well-being. A strong teacher-child relationship can help children feel safe, valued, and respected.

Learning is a lifelong process: Learning does not stop when children leave the classroom. Teachers should encourage children to continue learning outside of school and help them develop a love of learning that will stay with them throughout their lives.
