Seven people were killed in less than 48 hours in a series of tragedies on Long Island. Four people died in crashes, two teens were murdered and a father drowned while trying to save his son.
Father Finds Son Shot To Death
Suffolk Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the death of 17-year-old Emilio Sanchez Maldonado, who was found shot to death outside his home by his father in East Patchogue around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday. Maldonado's family believes he may have been targeted by the MS-13 because he refused to join the gang, CBS 2 reported.

Motorcyclist Killed In Crash On LIE
A 25-year-old man died after he crashed his motorcycle into a guardrail on the Long Island Expressway in Holtsville Tuesday morning. A Suffolk County Sheriff's Office deputy discovered the crash around 5:40 a.m. Joseph Jacob, of Holbrook, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Motorcyclist Dies After Striking Metal Barricade
A 49-year-old man died after he crashed his motorcycle into a metal barricade early Wednesday, Suffolk Police say. John F. Greene was riding a 1995 Harley Davidson motorcycle south on Veterans Memorial Highway, near the Sunrise Highway overpass, in Holbrook when his motorcycle the roadway and struck a barricade at about 12:20 a.m. Greene, of Brookhaven, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Jeep Driver Killed In Fiery Crash Off LIE Service Road
The driver of a Jeep was killed in a fiery crash off a Long Island Expressway service road Wednesday morning. Police say a person was driving a Jeep west on Express Drive North when the vehicle struck the curb, ornamental rocks at a residence, multiple trees and a fire hydrant before coming to rest on the lawn of 112 Edgewood Ave. in Ronkonkoma at approximately 3:20 a.m. The Jeep then caught fire. The driver's identity will be determined by the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.

Man Killed In Overturn Crash On William Floyd Parkway
A 47-year-old man was killed in a single-car crash on the William Floyd Parkway Wednesday morning. Police say Marc Riccio was driving a 2008 Toyota Highlander northbound on the William Floyd Parkway, north of Whiskey Road, in Ridge when his vehicle veered off the roadway, struck a guardrail and overturned around 8:30 a.m. Riccio, of Yaphank, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Father Drowns While Trying To Save Child
A 41-year-old man drowned while trying to save his child at a Mattituck beach on the Fourth of July. According to Southold Town Police Sgt. William Brewer, Leonel Ortiz Lemus had difficulty once in the water trying to save his child, who was in distress shortly after 3 p.m. The child, who was believed to be under 10 years old, was saved and was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center. The father's body was recovered from the water by police divers about an hour later.
Teen Found Dead In Nassau
Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the death of a 16-year-old boy that occurred on Thursday morning in New Cassel.
According to authorities, police responded to Roman Avenue and Costar Street to find the teen suffering from serious injuries at 1:05 a.m. He was taken to Nassau University Medical Center were he was pronounced dead. Nassau Police are expected to release more details later Thursday morning.
