A Tribute to the Man Who Left No One Hungry
A look at what to know about today in Commack.

Today in Commack, we're asking our readers to share their best memories of visiting Commack Breakfast, and getting to know owner Peter Fedden, who died in a car crash Wednesday.
Fedden was driving in Hauppauge early Wednesday morning when he lost control of his vehicle and hit a brick building. The 29-year-old entrepreneur was mainly known as the sunny face, ready to take sandwich orders from his customers, many of whom he knew on a first-name basis.
Fedden was 16 when he started working at Commack Breakfast, and was just 20 years old when he bought the business from the previous owner. The cafe was closed Wednesday. A handwritten sign on the window read, "Our Beloved Peter Passed Away. God Bless His Soul."
Those who knew him well, will say that he was not just a hard worker, but a talented musician and philanthropist, as well. One of his traditions was based around his giving back to the community though the St. Baldrick's fundraiser.
Fedden grew his hair out every year and then shaved it in March, after dyeing it green for a week to pay homage to the St. Baldrick's icon – a leprechaun. He also kept a a can in the shop, into which his regulars put change all year-long. The shop's Superbowl party pools went completely to charity, as well.
Will Commack Breakfast be the same without Pete? Share your memories of this true-blue Commackian in the comments below.
