Commack School District Hires New Administrator

Adele V. Pecora-Dusanenko serves as Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment for the district.

The Commack School District Board of Education welcomed Adele V. Pecora-Dusanenko as the New Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction and assessment for grades K through 12 at their montly meeting on Thursday.

Pecora-Dusanenko comes to Commack from the Island Park School District, where she served as where she was the Director of Curriculum, Assessment and Technology.

“I am thrilled and honored to be joining the administrative team at Commack Public Schools, which has a longstanding tradition of promoting academic excellence," Pecora-Dusanenko said at the meeting. "I humbly embrace the mission to provide an exemplary learning experience for each child and look forward to serving the staff, students, parents, and community members.”

Pecora-Dusanenko's position was created during the for the 2011-2012 school year to consolidate costs and increase program coordination.

Previously, the district had two Assistant Superintendents for Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment—one for Elementary and one for Secondary Education.

"During these financially challenging times, we are working diligently to reduce costs in every area of the budget without directly impacting students, or affecting the integrity of our program," said Superintendent Donald James.
