Election Worker: Steady Turnout at Polls

Poll workers say early voter turnout has been strong, anticipate evening rush.

Early and mid-day voter turnout has been strong and steady at Commack High School, and New York State election workers expect even more voters to visit the polls during the evening rush.

One veteran election worker said the consistent stream of voters throughout the day has exceeded her expectations.

"It's been busier than usual for this type of election," she said.

"There seems to be a buzz sorrounding this election. People seem to have a sense of urgency to get out and vote for a specific candidate."

While voters remained have been tight-lipped about who they voted for, an unofficial revealed 62 percent of participants said they planned to vote along party lines.
