Former Commack Educator to Replace Wantagh Principal

A former Commack teacher is set to become the principal of Wantagh Middle School.

Dawn Matrochano, who formerly served as a social studies chairperson for the Commack School District, will take over for Dr. Timothy Piciullo, who has resigned as principal of the school.

Matrochano currently serves as the school's assistant principal.

“Ms. Matrochano's experience as the assistant principal at Wantagh Middle School, Social Studies department chairperson in Commack, and former elementary assistant principal at , combined with her knowledge of our district, students, parents and staff, make her a natural and excellent selection for this leadership position,” said Wantagh Superintendent Lydia Begley in a letter sent to parents in the district.

Matrochano will assume her new position as principal effective July 1.
