Girls Scouts Rename Commack Street
A portion of Moreland Road will now be called Girl Scout Way in honor of the organization's 100th anniversary.
The Girl Scouts of Suffolk County unveiled at a ceremony Wednesday afternoon at their Commack Headquarters.
A portion of Moreland Road, where their headquarters is located, will now be known as Girl Scout Way.
The Town of Smithtown granted the name change to honor the 100th anniversary of the Girl Scouts of America and commemorate the community service local Girls Scouts have provided throughout the years.

According to Yvonne Grant, President and CEO of Girl Scouts of Suffolk County, the first Girl Scout troop in Suffolk County was formed in 1915 in Huntington. Today, the organization serves more than 40,000 girls in the County.
