Hazardous Weather Outlook Issued For Long Island

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for the region.

The National Weather Service has issued the following hazardous weather outlook for Long Island:

There is moderate potential for wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph Tuesday morning, with a low potential for gusts of 50 to 55 mph. If this potential increases a wind advisory will be issued.

The full forecast:

Monday Afternoon- A chance of rain before 1pm, then rain after 3pm. High near 46. South wind 8 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Monday Night- Rain, mainly before 5am. The rain could be heavy at times. Temperature rising to around 51 by 4am. Southeast wind 13 to 18 mph becoming southwest after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.

New Year's Day- Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a temperature rising to near 53 by 10am, then falling to around 47 during the remainder of the day. Breezy, with a northwest wind 18 to 23 mph, with gusts as high as 45 mph.

Tuesday Night- Partly cloudy, with a low around 27. Wind chill values between 20 and 25. Northwest wind 10 to 14 mph.

Wednesday- Partly sunny, with a high near 36. North wind 6 to 10 mph.

Wednesday Night- Mostly cloudy, with a low around 31.

Thursday- Mostly cloudy, with a high near 42.
