No Injuries Reported in Dix Hills Attic Fire

A fire broke out in a Dix Hills home on Saturday night, Jan. 10, but there were no reported injuries, authorities said.

Volunteer firefighters from the Dix Hills Fire Department responded to reports of fire from the roof of a house on Carlls Straight Path near Patri Court, Saturday night at about 9:50 p.m., according to officials.

Firefighters located the fire in one-story house at the end of a long snow-covered driveway. They began an aggressive interior attack on the attic fire, and quickly had the blaze extinguished and under control, officials said.

Forty firefighters and rescue personnel were on the scene with six engines, two ambulances, rehab unit, first responder and paramedic unit, under the command of Chief Robert Fling. Operations sectors were handled by Assistant Chiefs Tom Napolitano, Alan Berkowitz and Joe Williamson, officials said.

The Deer Park Fire Department assisted at the scene with a Rapid Intervention Team, and the Greenlawn Fire Department and Commack Ambulance Corps provided standby coverage for Dix Hills, officials said.

The fire appears to be accidental in origin, and is under investigation by the Town of Huntington Fire Marshal.
