Patch Question: How Are You Coping Without Power?
Thousands of Commack residents still have no power more than 80 hours after Irene.

In the aftermath of Irene, LIPA is reporting 2,803 customers out of 13,167 in Commack are still without power as of 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Patch readers have been checking in from smart phones, homes of family and friends, libraries and WiFi hotspots to get the latest information on the power restoration efforts. Many have took to Twitter to voice their frustration with LIPA's restoration efforts.
Residents without power can't charge their cell phones, computers, and those with electric stoves cannot cook. Many have lost hundreds of dollars worth of spoiled groceries, as fridges and freezers thaw out.
