Residents Begin to Recover From Storm, Power Still Out for Some

As of 6:30 p.m., residents were heading out around town, but many still do not have power according to LIPA.

Commack residents emerged to shovel driveways, dig out cars and take their kids sledding on the snowy hills Monday after the big blizzard, though many are are still without power.

Approximately 150 Commack residents were without power that power should be turned on as of 7 p.m. 

For many people it was business as usual; supermarket parking lots filled up with shoppers and roads had a steady flow of traffic.

The Commack Post Office remained open throughout the day, although delivery service was suspended.

Some places, like and Commack Multiplex were open, though others, such as , were closed for the day.

While highways and major roads such as Jericho Turnpike and Commack Road are now clear, side streets still remain slippery, despite plows and sand trucks making the rounds.
