Residents Fuel Up for Storm

Motorists in Commack were taking no chances Thursday and began lining up at service stations throughout the area to fill car tanks and gas cans as blizzard warnings arrived.

With the Hurricane Sandy gas shortage fresh in residents' minds, drivers are making sure they're not stuck on empty during this storm.

Though nowhere near as long as the lines that formed during the Sandy gas shortage, queues of 15 to 20 cars could be seen Thursday evening at stations along Jericho Turnpike in Commack and Huntington.

Denise Algerio commented on Commack Patch's Facebook page that Hess had lines staring as early as 7 a.m. on Thursday.

"Odd/even days should start now, before the hysteria begins," commented Jennifer Morizio.
