A look at upcoming events and activities in the Commack area.

Meet the BOE Candidates
The Commack PTA will host a "Meet the Candidates" night on Thursday at 8 p.m. at Burr Intermediate School. Residents of the Commack School District will elect two individuals to the Board of Education on May 21. Trustee Jeffrey Egan is up for re-election. His seat is being challenged by James Tampellini. Current Trustee Joseph Pennacchio will not run for re-election, therefore his seat will be open as well. Steve Hartman and Jarrett Behar have thrown their names in to fill the position.

Cub Scout Car Wash Fundraiser
Pack 322, of Commack, will hold a car wash fundraiser this Saturday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Applebee's, located at 10 Veterans Highway, in Commack.

Foundation For Sight and Sound Fashion Show
The Foundation For Sight and Sound & Gavin's Got Heart Foundation will be co-hosting a Fashion Show Fundraiser Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at The Hamlet Country Club in Commack. There will be a fashion show, a vendor showcase, silent auction, dinner and dancing.

Winning Artists Showcase 
The Smithtown Township Arts Council will present the Winners Showcase 2013an exhibition featuring the work of award-winning artists from STAC’s 2012 juried exhibitions, from May 18 until June 14 at The Mills Pond House Gallery in St. James. The public is invited to an opening reception May 18, at 2 p.m. to meet exhibiting artists and view their work. Regular Gallery hours are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, noon until 4 p.m. Call 631-862-6575 for more information. Admission to the gallery is free.
