UCP Suffolk Debuts New Play Room

Splashes of Hope designed and painted the season-themed room.

The United Cerebral Palsy of Suffolk center in Commack celebrated the unveiling of a new play and therapeutic space earlier this month.

Grants secured from the former New York Mercantile Exchange Foundation, the Chicago Mercantile Exchange Group Community Foundation, The Theresa Foundation and the Knapp Swezey Foundation combined with donations from Kings Park and Commack High Schools, and money raised by the center's 2010 5K Walk & Wheel funded the cost of the new safety and therapy equipment.

Splashes of Hope added custom murals to recreate the four seasons around the entire space. The team of artists and volunteers completed the project in just over two weeks. Splashes of Hope founder Heather Buggée said this is the charity's biggest "splash" to date.

The seasonal theme was chosen so that students at the center could experience the outdoors as they played year-round.
