2 Wyandanch District Admins Reassigned After 1 Year In School
The announcement comes after the school had just been placed on good standing, after 9 years of struggling.

WYANDANCH, NY — Two Wyandanch middle school administrators were temporarily reassigned, only one week after the start of the school year.
In a letter to parents addressed by Superintendent Arlise Carson and obtained by Patch, Principal Shannon Burton and Assistant Principal Kimberly Clinton were reassigned from Milton L. Olive Middle School this week.
The announcement comes after the school had been classified by the state as academically struggling for nine years — and it was just placed on the good standing list, News 12 said.

The two had only worked at the school for one year.
According to Board of Education documents, Burton was appointed as principal in July 2022, with an annual salary of $159,570, with a four-year probationary period, effective July 27, 2026.

He is a former public school math teacher at a school in Yonkers, and after eight years, became the assistant principal for mathematics and public relations there, according to his website.
Burton was also a former middle school principal for a large school in an inner-city school district in the state of New York.
Clinton was appointed assistant principal on Aug. 29, 2022, with an annual salary of $148,771 and a four-year probationary period through 2026, according to documents.
"As this is a matter of personnel, the district has no additional comments," the district told Patch.
